ABOUT GAITL
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), a premier institute of legal education in India, is India’s only national law school that offers five integrated undergraduate courses in law, in addition to LL.M., M.B.A., Ph.D. and diploma programmes in law and interdisciplinary fields. Consistent with its aim to provide intellectually stimulating learning opportunities to students in diverse areas of law, the university regularly organizes outreach programmes and encourages research endeavours through centres of excellence.
In this regard, the field of international trade law has been of particular interest to us from the very start, for we recognize the significance that equipping practitioners in developing countries with cutting-edge research in this complex and diverse area holds in bolstering sustainable growth in such economies. To encourage the engagement of law students and practitioners with this field, GNLU already organizes a moot court competition based on international trade law, and has in the past organized three conferences and published journals on this subject.
In furtherance of this established culture, the University is now organizing the first GNLU Academy on International Trade Law (GAITL), 2018 from February 12 to 14, 2018. It will be conducted under the aegis of the Centre for Public International Law (CPIL), GNLU’s in-house platform for research and training in areas of public international law, which has previously coordinated two editions each of the GNLU Air & Space Law Academy and the GNLU International Maritime Academy.
GAITL 2018 endeavours to provide a common platform for practitioners, research scholars, students and other stakeholders to deliberate upon recent developments in international trade law. It is aimed at acquainting participants with contemporary challenges to the multilateral trading regime and proposing solutions to address these challenges.
